The long-distance Glyndwr’s Way trail can be broken up into smaller sections for a lovely day hike if you don’t want to attempt the 135-mile tour through Mid Wales!
This trail is an opportunity to celebrate Welsh cultural and natural history.
Take a Friday afternoon stroll to nearby Penegoes 3.1 miles to collect bread from Rye & Roses (order online) or if you’re feeling active, walk all the way to Machynlleth.

Machynlleth, or ‘Mach’ as it’s called locally, is known as the Ancient Capital of Wales.
There’s lots of important Welsh history in Mach dating back to 1400s when Owain Glyndwyr was crowned Prince of Wales on the site of Parliament House, now a Grade 1 listed National Heritage Centre which you can visit.
Mach which is known for its quirky mix of arts and crafts, antiques, galleries, shops, cafes, takeaways and pubs. You won’t find McDonalds or Starbucks here! And there’s a very popular market every Wednesday – a tradition launched by royal charter, it’s been going since 1291.
